Welcome to our inclusive group of writers! We grow from all genres and levels of experience. Formerly the Sandpoint Chapter of the Idaho Writers League, after 81 years the state group disbanded and we became Sandpoint Writers on the Lake. Many of us are published, while others write for personal enjoyment. Join us!

There are many writers groups to choose from, but we whole-heartedly welcome you to Sandpoint Writers on the Lake.
Whether you're joining us in person or via Zoom, first, get on our mailing list by contacting us and then read over our writers group meeting and critiquing procedures. We'll help you to improve your manuscripts and to sell your indie books.
From contests to conferences, we're always thinking about how to grow personally and as a group. We value insightful ideas and enjoy helping each other achieve writing goals. We have hearts for mentoring the next generation of writers, while learning from their experiences, too. You'll find our writers out in the community at book events, farmers markets, and craft shows. Take a look at our writers group calendar in progress.
Find out more about some of our Sandpoint writers group members and their indie books.
Membership is $25 per year (you're welcome to sit in on our meetings twice for free before joining). You don't have to live in Sandpoint to be a part of our group. Zoom commute from Spokane, Coeur d'Alene, Sagle, Bonner's Ferry, Priest River, or anywhere within our region.
You don't have to be a writer to join our group. We value our beta readers. Start by checking out some of our authors' books or request them from your local library. Zoom or meet in person to join our meetings. Contact us to let us know your interests.
As you press forward with your writing, we know that sometimes it's easy to get stuck. Soon we'll compile and share our own writing, editing, and marketing resources to assist you on your journey as a self-published, indie author or as an author-at-large. For now, we've linked to a writing learning center. If you belong to other writers groups with resources to share, we'd love to hear from you. Contact us.
After you've perused our site, contact us if you'd like to attend a meeting, need additional resources, or have questions. Your inquiry will eventually be routed to Jim Good, president of Sandpoint Writers on the Lake, or another member and one of us will contact you. Leave your phone number, email address, and inquiry details so that we can better help you (and know you're not AI).
Many of our past and current writers group members were interviewed by the Bonner County Library. Watch, enjoy, and learn from their indie books and stories.
